OMNI  This was the third year that members of St John have accompanied OMNI (Orphan Medical Network International) on a trip to Zambia, Africa. The funds from an Eastern Hemisphere luncheon sponsored by WELCA on Mission Sunday (2/22/09) and matching Thrivent funds will go towards sponsoring Marcia Bartz and Anna Stelter who will be making the trip.
OMNI provides a medical team that medically treats patients in nine mobile outdoor clinics. They lave also built orphanages and are currently in the process of completing an orphan village, complete with 12 orphanages, a school and a clilnic.

Military Boxes
We sent off boxes to those in the military in last fall and are planning to send them once again at Easter time. If you know of anyone from our congregation that is not receiving or recently deployed contact the office with their name and shipping address 833-1703 or email: stjohn@hickorytech.net

Food Shelf
October is St. Johns month for collecting items for the food shelf and includes our yearly can can collection on Halloween which is always a great help. We also ask our members to donate food during this month and it can be left in the Narthex. We also do a special collection for Thanksgiving. If you wish to donate cash you can leave this in the office or place in the offering plate marked "food shelf donation".
Shampoo Collection
We at St. John's are in charge all year of providing the neighborhood service center with Shampoo. There is a box in the flower room marked Shampoo you can leave your donations there. If you wish to donate cash you can leave this in the office or place in the offering plate marked "shampoo donation".
Block Party
This is a yearly event to kick off the fall season here at St. John's. We have music, games, food and fun for the whole family. All are invited to come and celebrate!
